I hadn’t been drawing anything for months and this was the first plate after that long time. I spent two whole weekends only for only for the stems, because to match the real plant surface I made them with endless points of different colours, as in a typographic grid.
The spirals due to the florets arrangement according to the Fibonacci series are also reproduced in the small, just opening “flower”.
